The marriage license I am getting do not seem to have the birth/parent info on them. You might do better with death cert. Do you know where Nettie Carlson Jenkins died and when? I had tried the same avenue for my grgrandf and it had nothing.

Thanks for looking Ardyth. I knew it was a long shot. I have been trying to find where Nettie died, possibly Rock Island or Davenport area, but no luck so far. My ultimate goal is to find a Swede who can lead me to the Parish my great Grandfather John Swanson was born 17 June 1851. He emmigrated in 1871 and to the best of my knowledge came straight to Fulton County. If so he would have had contacts.

I have been searching Church record from Sweden Parish by Parish. Great Grandmother Fredricka Charlotta Danielsdotter Lund emmigrated 28 Sept. 1873 from Alsheda Parish, Jönköping lån, Sweden. They married in Fulton County 19 June 1874. Most of this information was found because I had more information to start.

Anyother suggestions? Where you able to find August Swanson's death record?

Thanks for trying. I was hoping for a scrp from either Nettie or August. I have been trying to find Nettie's death record but no luck so far. If you can think of anything else let me know. Oh yes if you know of any descendents of emmigrant Swedes who settled east of Canton, please have them contact me.

I've not gone yet.............just saying in retrospect that the marriage cert. I have gotten in the past have not had parents names. That was my big hope. I will certainly be going in the next week or two so am planning to look. I have printed out yr info. Do you have any idea if you are related to a Ruth Swanson? She lived in Lewistown area. and has been gone for about 10-12 yrs I think. She had to be in 80's when she passed. Her dau was Mary Anna Swanson Laird. She lived in Bryant and then Lewistown. I do know where their graves are and will look for other family there. Hopefully we will come across something.

Know what you mean about the License/application/return not having family information. Plus if it is there it is something like parents: Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Again it is a long shot.

About Ruth Swanson: No relation that I am aware. I also asked my 91 year old mother and she couldn't remember any ony by that name. There were several Swanson in the Lewistown area but no known relationship. Thanks for the thought.

FYI: I am working on Swedes living in Fulton County between 1860 and 1900. Hopefully something might tie. When I get it finished or at least to a stage of understanding I pland to post ir on www.Illinoisancestors.org under Swedes.

I went to the library today and found August Swanson's obit. The only info about his birth was, he was born in Sweden Sept. 21, 1863. He married Rachel Pringle Nov 8, 1888. Two children were born to them Jonas of Canton and George of Chicago. It does not mention his parents.

They also mention a sister Mary and a brother Andrew living in Sweden. He came to the U. S. at the age of 17.

Heading of obit is:

AUGUST SWANSON, GROCER HERE FOR 16 YEARS, IS DEAD.

If you'd like the complete obit let me know.

Good info, I am curious as to where he was a grocer at? And if he might be related to Ruth Swanson, no clue her maiden name.

He was an grocer here in Canton. His store was on 716 S 1st Ave.

Thank you for the obit info. I am so please to get sibling names. Any chance you could scan or snail mail. I will gladly reimburse you. I have his brother John's obit from 1909. At that time 2 brothers, 2 sisters and his mother are living in Sweden. Gus is the only one mentioned in the US.
