In the last few days my father and I have been discussing our ancestry, and we're interested in learning more about the Irish side of our lineage. The majority of that blood comes from the MURPHY family. HODGE MURPHY, my great-great-grandfather, lived in Marietta in the late 19th/early 20th century. He came from Ireland by way of Kentucky.
I've searched in vain for more information on his birth, his wife, and other children besides my great-grandfather Marvin. I have a tenuous lead that he may have died in Fulton County in 1936.
Can anyone pass on more information? I thank you kindly in advance.
Found this on Ancestory.com (It is quite possible that his father was from Ireland not him) Check 1880 or 1900 Census. If you can't find him use the procedure below.
If you have access to Heritage Quest from your local library, try searching the US for Given name Hodge. I would imagine it wouldn't be very common. Sometimes you have to be creative in searches.
