I live in Staffordshire, in England, and my cousin now lives in Melbourne, OZ. We share a Grandfather, Thomas Reynolds SMITH, who was born in England in 1882. He was illegitimate and was named after his Father, Thomas REYNOLDS. After a long time, I have established that Thomas REYNOLDS left the U.K. to emigrate to the U.S. in 1881 within a few weeks of our Grandfather's Mother becoming pregnant. After marrying Jane Elizabeth BEXSON in Colchester, McDonough Co. in 1885, Thomas REYNOLDS and his new wife settled in Canton, in Fulton County, Illinois. She was also English. She had entered the U.S. one year after her husband.
With the help of many kind folk in the U.S. and a copy of the death certificate and cemetery details, I have been able to find what became of Thomas REYNOLDS. My cousin and I are now anxious to try and find a photograph of him. Can anybody help with any suggestions?
Here is such information as I have:
The couple were childless.
He died on 19 April 1930 aged 74 at 936 North 6th Avenue, Canton. She died on 7 February 1938 aged 73 at 843 North 9th Avenue, Canton . They are both buried in Greenwood Cemetery.
Thomas was a coal miner, born in South Shields in Co. Durham in England. His U.S. death certificate has all the correct U.K references.
Many members of his wife’s family – called BEXSON emigrated to the U.S at the same time. They were the only relations, and it was Jane Elizabeth’s Brother - Albert BEXSON who registered the death of Thomas REYNOLDS.
I have written to the Fulton Co. Courthouse enquiring about a copy of Thomas’s Will, but have received no reply. Unless the local paper carried an Obit. which contained a photograph of Thomas REYNOLDS, the only possibility of obtaining a photograph, it seems to me, is through a BEXSON family member
Any assistance would be VERY much appreciated

Yes I am some distance from Canton Illinois but I grew up there. I did a little looking from here but unfortunately what I have is also little. The only Bexson I found in Fulton County was in the 1920 census. A Joseph Bexson with wife, 2 sons William and Earl (Ithink). They are living Southeast of downtown and if my moemry hasn't failed about 3 miles from your Thomas and Jane. I do not remember the name but I'll check a canton phone book as soon as I find where I put them. (Yes I have multiple).
Didn't think I would be back so soon. I forgot I could check on line. Unfortunately the only Bexson listed in Illinois live roughly 200 miles away. Don't even know if they are related. I will check with my Mother on the Canton Bexsons. The sons may have gone to school with she and my Dad. Her memory isn't what it use to be but if she mulls she can sometime catch it.
I am looking for death dates and grave locations for Joseph Bexson b.7 Sep 1869-England & Sarah Ellen (Hooten) Maseker-Bexson b. c.1870-England. Does anyone have information on this couple? Ellen's daughter, Pearl, was my great-grandmother.
You probably have their marrage information but ust incase no I have attached the URL for Illinois state Marriage site http://www.ilsos.gov/GenealogyMWeb/MarriageSearchServlet (Bexson, Joseph married Masker, Sarah Ellen Hatton (Mrs) 1900 5 30 (20 May 1900) in Henry County)
I found them in Henry County, Illinois 1900 & 1910 Censuses and 1920 in Fulton County, Illinois. As yet nothing in 1930. Sorry. I'll look somemore and will contact if I find anything.
Joseph and Sarah are buried in Canton, Il. They were my great-grandparents. I believe Sarah died on 7-1-64 and Joseph on 4-9-64. I have copies of copies of the obits, so not positive. The Bexsons left the Canton area. Most of us are in Gardner or South Wilmington, Il.
