My ancestor Samuel Jackson may have lived in Fulton County, Illinois in the early 1800's. He was born in 1779 in South Carolina, probably York County. He died in 1863 in Peoria County, Illinois. His daughter Sarah A. Jackson married late in life to a man named James S. Gill. A biography of James' son, Samuel Gill, states that Sarah Jackson was "of Farmington, Fulton County."
Samuel Jackson's children were: Onias, Sarah A., James A., John M., Narcissa, Matilda, Samuel C., Darexie, Mary W., and Hester. If anyone runs across any information about Samuel or his unknown wife (her name may have been Sarah or Sally Ewing, but that is a guess), please be in touch.
It is possible that Samuel Jackson was a son of David Jackson and Mary Morrison of York County, South Carolina, but this is only speculation.
Samuel Jackson also lived in Rush County, Indiana and may have been in Des Moines County, Iowa where at least two of his sons settled. (Des Moines County is only about 70 miles west of Peoria County, Illinois and Fulton County is even closer.)
