5 Elliott Children die on September 19, 1850

I have a One World Tree record which says that the five children of Benjamin Elliott and Anna Nancy Zug Elliott  (names:  John, Cyrus, Susannah, David, Mary) all died on the same day 19 Sep 1850 and they ranged from 4-19 years old.

Does anyone have any information on how they died?

When I read this something about the death date hit a note so I did a little looking.

In the 1850 Census for Fairview, Fulton County, Illinois I found a Benjamin(45) & Nancy(38) Elliott with children John(17), Susan(14), Cyrus(11) on the last page (#26) Don't know where Mary & David are. This census was dated 19 Sep 1850. Hmm.

In Farmington, Fulton county, Illinois 1860 Census, a Benjamin Elliottis on the Mortality list; and then a Nancy Elliot 49 is also in Farmington listed with with Cyrus age 21, David 17, and Mary 13. (all reportedly born in PA).

In Farmington, Fulton County, Illinois 1870 a Nancy Elliott 60 is living with Abram Eschleman and wife Susan 32 born in PA and their children. (marriage of an Abraham Eschleman and Susan Elliott took place in Fulton County 4 Oct 1853)

Can't be certain all are the same people but it warrants you doing further research. It alway good to check what you find online with other sources as we all make entry errors form time to time.

Thanks Ruth.

It is pretty easy to put a date on the wrong tag and the story changes dramatically. Someone must have used the census date and hit the death date button (probably just below in their software package) by mistake. Good catch.
