I also have these names in my family tree.

My great-great grandmother was Emma Roddis born in England--Jan. 19, 1859 and died near Galesburg--November 12, 1940.  I have one picture of her.  She is elderly in the pic.  She is buried in Ipava, IL.  She married a James Parrish in 1884. I know nothing about him (but would be thankful for any info you might have).

I have her "funeral book" that lists Friends who called and floral offerings.

It lists a Mr. & Mrs. H.G. Bainter and Robert Bainter (he was a casket bearer).  There is a Harold Bainter listed...I don't know if he is the "H" in H.G. ??  The names have all been typed so there is no way to compare handwriting and even guess..

It also lists a Mr. & Mrs. William Roddis    Mr. & Mrs. Harry Roddis and Gale Roddis

These posts are pretty old, but my nephew ran across them while researching family history, and I can supply some answers to the above questions.

Harold Gray Bainter was my grandfather, Robert T Bainter was his son, my dad. Alvadore Bainter was Harold's father, and Alvadore' first wife was Fannie Roddis, who came to America with her father, Samuel Roddis, from England when she was 16, if I recall correctly. Alvadore and Fannie married in March 1886.

Alvadore and Fannie also had a daughter, Iva Jewel Bainter. Some time between 1910 and 1915 Alvadore left his family, and he married Bertha Wheeler in 1915 and moved to Macon Missouri. The story passed down to me was that Alvadore had run off and no one ever heard from him again; I discovered his second wife's name through Ancestry.com. His first wife, Fannie Roddis Bainter, was listed as widowed on census records after that, but when she died in 1924, the death record shows divorced.

Specifically for jmpb65: H. G. Bainter is indeed Harold Bainter. The Mrs H. G. Bainter was Stella Jane Werdebaugh Bainter. The casket-bearer Robert T. Bainter was their son, my father. He was about 22 at that time. Fannie Roddis, Harold Gray Bainter's mother, had a sister named Emma Roddis, your great-great-grandmother I assume. From Ancestry.com it appears Fannie also had two brothers, Charles and Robert, and another sister, Alice. From what I can tell, Charles and the sisters all came to America from England as well; I don't know about Robert. I don't recognize the other Roddis names, but I would guess they are children of Fannie's and Emma's brothers.

This are more details on the Bainter family tree on Ancestry.com, by user gypsyrest.

Best wishes,

Eric
