The  "Cemetery Inscriptions of Fulton County" for The Vermont City Cemetery in Vermont, Il. has the following:


Brown, David L.  1871-1942  Lot 38 Bogue Addition 


  "       Pearl (Kirkbride)  1872-1957


 


This indicates they were husband and wife.  Hope this helps.  losi
