My great-great-great-grandfather was John J. Hamilton (c. 1805-c. 1900). He and his family appear on the Fulton County census in 1850. His wife's name was Susanna. Sometime between 1850 and 1856, they moved to Parker County, Texas and they appear on the 1860 Census for Parker County. In 1863, two of their sons, William and Stewart, were killed by the Indians in Parker County, south of Weatherford. At the time, John J. Hamilton was the minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Weatherford. He also operated a farm and tannery south of Weatherford where his sons were killed. Susanna Hamilton supposedly lost her mind after the death of her sons. I don't know where or when she died. John J. Hamilton died in Floyd County, Texas and is buried at Lockney, Texas.
There were two other sons who survived: Isaac Hamilton (1841-1901) and John Wesley Hamilton (b. 1843). Isaac was married twice: (1) Rebecca Welch (2) Martha Ann Carnahan. He and Rebecca had four children, only two of which lived to adulthood. One of them was my great-grandmother Theattie Hamilton Green. Isaac and Martha Ann Carnahad had several children. The Hamiltons moved to Floyd County about 1897 and are buried at Lockney, Texas.
I would like to exchange information with other descendants of John J. and Isaac Hamilton.
