In the obituary (1926) of my Great Uncle Gus (August Swanson), it states that his funeral service would be conduvted at the residence of Rev. L. H. Knight. Does anyone know where this mannnn was a minister?? Also does anyone know if the Masonic lodge has records that go back that far? The obit also states that the Masonic lodge was incharge of the services. Thanks for checking.
The Lodge records would only have the dates he was made an EC, FC & MM. There miight be a record of when his service was held. As for Rev. Knight only if the Rev. was a member of hte Lodge would they have info on where he was a minister. Do you know what relidgion August Swanson was? That might help you find where Rev. Knight was a minister.
I did find Rev. Knight. He served First Presbyterian of Canton 1929-1954. The obituary of August Swanson said he would be buried from Rev. Knights home so I thought no Church building available. I did not consider that since August wife Rachel came from Scotland they may have attended the Presbyterian Church. (althought no membership for Gus was found.
Thanks for the Masonic info. I'll have to think about wether to follow it further.
Does not ring any bells. Knights connect to my line (by marriage) in several spots. Maybe if you told me date and place of birth I could help. Look forward to hearing from you.
