looking for Schrodt family

I'm looking for the family of Murle Schrodt.  She was born in Fulton county about 1904.  I know she had a son.  I do not know who she married.  She was the daughter of John Lewis and Della Maude Cunningham Schrodt.  I'm hoping Murle's son will have the family information I need.

Through the 1910 census she was listed as Nola M Schrodt.  The 1920 census has her as Murle Schrodt.  After more searching I found she married Charles Delno McKenzie.  Thanks for all who looked at my post.

Hi, Nola Myrtle Schrodt McKenzie is my cousin, the last I heard about her was that she was in a nursing home in Moline, I think.  I don't know if she is still living, I believe all her siblings are deceased. I don't know anything about her children except that she had a son and a daughter, I believe.  I will have to my file to be sure about that.

Nola's son died in January of this year.  He was living in Nevada.  Luckily I found his obituary.  I have contacted his daughter-in-law.  She has some of Ada Mae's pictures.  She is going to e-mail them to me.  We are going to see if my mother, Evelyn Grace Schrodt Foster, can identify any of them.  I was hoping to find information and pictures for the Schrodt's.  The only picture I have is of my grandparents, Clarence and Mary Stuckey Schrodt.  If you know of any sources, I'd love to hear about them.

I have a few pictures of the Schrodt family, some are unidentified. I have a photo of your great-grandparents, John L. and Della Maud Cunningham Schrodt, with some of the older children when they were young.  These photos were given to me by a cousin of my Grandpa Schrodt. Della Maud Cunningham and my great-grandmother, Lydia Cooper Schrodt Wheeler were half sisters.  I have a photo of Phillip Schrodt, his brother, Lewis Peter, Lewis Peter's daughter, Grace, when she was a baby. to name a few. My great-grandfather was George Schrodt, born July 20, 1858, his father was John Wendel Schrodt, born 1820.  I don't know of anyone else who would have photos of the ancestors. Your grandfather told me that one of his sisters threw out a suitcase of photos when their parents died because she didn't know the people in the photos.  I'm willing to share what I have in exchange for information on Nola and other members of the Schrodt family. Thanks.

Kay,

I would love to share pictures.  I found a cousin in Nevada.  She sent me several pictures.  I found out my mother could not identify her own aunts and uncles.  Hopefully you can help.
Please feel free to e-mail me at irgirl56@msn.com

I am looking for (could be nee) Schrodt, Tara. I attended some of college with her in Chicago. She was a great friend while in school. I'd love to catch up with her. Any relation? I know she lived in Bourbonnais, IL with her grandmother - who I adored talking to.

Sue, I don't know if Tara Schrodt is related or not. I have a cousin, Ercel Schrodt, who lived in Bourbonnaise at one time during his lifetime.  He is deceased now, but I don't know where he died or is buried.  I don't know what his wife's name was.  Sorry I couldn't be of any more help to you. I am curious about what her grandmother's name is, though.

Hi Sue,

I am Tara Schrodt Talone.  I think I am the person you are looking for.  I am from Bourbonnais, IL and attended Robert Morris College in1989-90.  Please e-mail me to get in touch: btalone@carolina.rr.com

Kay--Ercell Abraham Schrodt was my grandfather, so it looks like we are related!  His wife was Beulah Mae Smyers Schrodt.  Ercell (or Slick as he was known to most) passed away about 9 years ago--I cannot remember the name of the town where he passed--it was in eastern central Illinois-he was residing at the Shriners Nursing home at the time.  He is also buried there.

I would love to get some more information on the family.  Unfortunately, my father, Michael Schrodt also has passed away, so I no longer have any contact with the Schrodt side of the family.  I have many photos that have been passed to me that I do not know who they are and would like to share to at least be able to identify or pass along to closer family members who would like them.

My mom actually found this posting by chance.  We were struggling to recall Ercell's mother's name for a genealogy project my son is doing for his 4th grade class.  Looking forward to hearing more and sharing info!  thanks!

Hi Tara, I am SO glad to hear from you! Ercell's mother was Della Maud Cunningham, married John Lewis Schrodt. Della was a half sister of my great-grandmother, Lydia [Cooper] Schrodt Wheeler. I found Ercell's death date & place of death in the Social Security Death Index at www.rootsweb.com. He died 04 May 1999 in Sullivan, Moultrie County, Illinois. I tried unsuccessfully to obtain an obituary for him, but there doesn't seem to be one. There were Schrodt cousins living in Sullivan, would that be why he went there to live, or was the reason he went there was to reside in the Shriners Nursing Home? Do you know where his wife is buried? It always puzzled me why he relocated to Sullivan from Bourbonnais. Debra Grace Foster, who also has postings on the Fulton County Illinois Genealogy Forum, is Ercell's great-niece. She is the daughter of Evelyn Schrodt Foster; her grandfather is Clarence Lester Schrodt, deceased. I attended school with Evelyn's youngest sister, Beverly Jean Schrodt Bell. We knew we were cousins, but were not quite sure exactly to what degree. If you need more info for your young man's project, let me know! I'll be glad to help! Thank you for the name of Ercell's wife. Photos seem to be a huge problem for all of us. I have old ones that a cousin gave me years before his death, only a few have names on them and then I have copies of the ones that Debra G. Foster sent. I was able to find someone who was able to identify a few of the family members for her. The old photos I have probably date from the 1800's and some are early 1900's. Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Kay, it's great to find a cousin out here.  I've always been interested in my family history but haven't gotten around to doing much research.  My immediate family is small, my father was an only child as am I so hearing about relatives (even distant) really helps to feel connected.  You're right--Sullivan was the name of the town where Ercell was at the Shriner's home.  I was finally able to find a link to his obit on www.obitcentral.com.  It is listed under Kankakee County.  He was in Sullivan just for the Shriner's home, I'm not sure if he or my dad even knew of family down there.  I am actually not sure why the decision was made for him to be buried there instead of in Kankakee area.  When he died, I was actually still in the hospital having my oldest son, so I was not really involved in the decisions, and sadly not even able to attend the funeral.  His wife, Beulah, is buried in Kankakee Memorial Gardens.  She passed away in 1991.  Fortunately, my son's project is complete--it wasn't too involved.  But the great thing is that he has really developed an interest in researching some of our history, so I think this is a project we will be working on together.  It looks like there is a lot of info out there.  Any suggestions on how to get started and keep track of everything would be greatly appreciated.  Looking forward to chatting with you more! Feel free to e-mail me directly if you prefer.
