I came across some very old papers from your county. They were within a tin box purchased by my mother at an antique store back home in Michigan. Most of them are correspondances among the following names, which I tried to make out from the envelopes. Some are just envelopes, others still contain the letters:
Emma B. Reed of Lewiston to Maggie Emma Cozine and Gerald Cozine and Ezra Cozineof Lewiston Mrs Belle of Cozine William/Willie Cozine Elmer Hill Carrie Sayre of Lewiston from PO Box 358 of Farmington
There are also some official looking papers. This is what I could make out of them:
Warranty Deed # 27498 to Edward Sayre of Lewiston from July 1, 1856 Warranty Deed #27499 " " Indenture from July 4, 1854 with the names William Phelps and Marvin Tryon (?)
Also, a large paper from Joel A. Matteson talking about school land, June 30, 1855; I can make out the name Samuel A Long also
I'm very curious as to their origins and significance. If any of these names or papers mean anything to anyone in Fulton county, I would love to hear about it! I have an interest in historical documents and preservation, and having these papers gives me a wonderful feeling. I wish I knew more about them.
Thank you, Laura Fu lauramariefu (at) yahoo (dot) com Timonium, MD
Emma Reed married Simon Ezra Cozine around 1890 and gave birth to my father Gerald in 1892. Ezra's half sister Zuelieme lived in Ludington MI; this may be how these papers got to MI. I am not sure what the Sayre connection is; I will see what I can come up with. Let me know what else you would like to know.
We just got back from Skokie Illinois half an hour ago [ we live in northwest Iowa]. We would love the chance to have the papers; we would want to reimburse you for any expense, of course.
