Trying to trace Native American link to Guilford Maranville born 1897 near Bryant. Would love information pertaining to his parents and the name of the tribe or tribes involved. Thanks so much.

The will of John Eveland, of Newton, Sussex County, dated 3 Jun 1766, was administered by Frederick Eveland, Jr.
Additional evidence is that Sussex County was created from Morris County in 1753. Morris County, in turn, was created from Hunterdon County in 1739; thus, the locations also match.

According to Ruth (Lacey) Eveland, Fridrick was born 1720, married Anna Rosina Wollenben, was in the Revolutionary War, and died after 1787.
Also, see the "Frederick Eveland of the Revolution" chapter that Barbara Covey, 2742 San Ramon Drive, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90274, provided to Roy Leggitt on 21 June 1991.
This chapter indicates that Frederick Eveland died at Waynesville (Illinois) in 1838 and was buried on the farm of his grandson (William, son of William C.) which became Fremont Cemetery. He was married to Katherine Ross KRANZ.

I am Relation to William L Eveland he was my great grandpa and he was a great great grandson to Frederick Eveland. Story goes the Delaware tribe come into the family some where please reply any knowlege you may know further.
I am curious as to the Maranville connection to Native American link also. Nancy Maranville Bird, my great great grandmother, was a daughter of Eleazor Maranville and Lydia (spelling???) Cline, Eleazor's first wife. I am unsure what relation your Guilford is as there are a few Guilford's. I know there are lots of Evelands in there also. But we were always told we were part American Indian and some in the family believe it was through Nancy. I cannot confirm that. From the DeMaranville book http://www.archive.org/stream/demaranvillegen00randgoog/demaranvillegen00randgoog_djvu.txt it would appear that is not true but when I saw this post I thought it was interesting that someone else had heard the same thing. Since this post is so much later...have you any new information to prove or disprove this? A first cousin told me that her Mother said it was the Potawatomi Tribe??
