Hi Ardith,
I am looking to see if I can find marriage records for the Clines (Klines) that came to Lewiston, Fulton, Illinois.  I have the marriage record for my ancestor, Mary Jane Cline Perry, but I would like to have the one for her father Jonas Cline and her grandfather, Lodwick Cline and her great grandfather, Jonas Cline.  Do you have sources where I might find this information.  i know that some of them came to Illinois from Ohio and to Ohio from Pennsylvania.
Thanks so much,

Denise Siegel

While Ardith is researching the census, there is cyberdriveillinois, that has marriages for each county and other records. There are 2 Jonas' married on it, Jonas who married Mary Jane Sweet 03/26/1857 Clark County, Illinois
and a Jonas Jr. that marries a Sarah F. Bacon 09/03/1868 Fulton County, Illinois
There are other records at this site as well.

Thanks Deb,
I will check that out.  I really think the major ones that I want are in Ohio or Pennsylvania and maybe even New York, but this might give me some lineal ones.

There is on Cyber Drive also the Mary Cline married Charles Perry 11-22-1866 in Fulton Co.
So far not finding anything in census, names are just not working. Did either Lodwick or Jonas go by another name? I am finding many many Lewis's.  Do you have any of the wives names? I'm still looking....:)  but if you have anything else, give a holler.......Oh, was Jonas Jr indeed a son of this Jonas?

I am replying to myself..........  confuse  I looked at my reply and the above posts, so the line goes as such concerning Mary Jane Cline Perry
Jonas Clline- father
Lodwick Cline - Grandfather
Jonas Cline - Gr. Grandfather
So again, the Jonas Jr. ?

(Kind of like talking to myself, sometimes you have to do it biggrin)

Ardith,
Thanks, You do have the line correct and yes Lodwick is also known as Ludwig and lotwick and some other spellings.  I haven't gotten far enough back to be sure what he was.
Jonas Jr I am told by a master genealogist is not necessarily the son of as we use today.  He could be classified as Jr because he is the younger of the two Jonas' that lived in the area.  Jonas Sr. was called  so as he was the elder.  It can be really confusing.  When I first found the wills of Jonas and Jonas sr. I thought there is the line, father and son ,but not so.
I will check out the web sites.  I have done some of those before and contacted the people that entered them and they only have census records for sources.  I wanted something more as I have census and wills, but would like some marriage records etc that I do not have.
Thanks so much again for looking and I will do some checking on those web sites.
Sincerely,
Denise Siegel
