Moses Landauer emigrated to the USA from the town of Gerabronn, Wurtemburg, Germany in 1854, and soon after arrived at Canton, Fulton co., IL where, in 1857, he married Sarah E. HAMILTON, the daughter of Squire Thomas N. HAMILTON, a Fulton co., blacksmith. In 1887, Moses married his wife's sister, Mary E. Hamilton, after Sarah's death. Moses worked as a dry goods salesman in Canton. Thomas N. Hamilton was married to Sarah E. GREEN, Sarah and Mary's mother, and after she died in 1850 in Fulton, he married Lucretia Hill, who had a daughter from a previous marriage. They later divorced.
Moses and Sarah had five chilrdren who lived: Clara Jeanette, Leroy, Carl Theodore, Herbert Thomas, and Blanche Beatrice. Clara married Samuel Anderson Edmiston, Carl married Henrietta Newburger in Louisville, KY, Herbert married Katherine (Unknown) and Blanche married at least three times: Wilson Y. L. Pursely, Edward Allen and Edward Cox.
