Hi! I'm looking for information on William Stewart & June Edna Freeman think they were in or around Smithfield, Fulton Co., Illinois. Would like to have their parents, date's of birth & Death.
Sorry I did not enclude more information. I'm some what out of practice with posting to a board.
Was up til 4 AM this morning with ADL working on these people and she found a lot of information for me on June Freeman. Still need to find information on William Stewart think he was b. abt 1884. Where he died is a question as according to the Illinois Statewide Death Index he did not die in Fulton Co. A number of William's died in Peoria Co., and Mc Donough Co. but none in Fulton Co.
I have compiled a number of questions/ideas for search. You may already be working these or have put them asside. TO start I did a little looking the am. I believe that June Edna is a second wife.(1930 census IL, Fulton, Cass twp.) her age 32 : age at marriage 27; William 46 , age 1st married 20.
1. Do you have a copy of their marriage. (depending on rules at time of marriage; there may be application, license and/or return) be sure to ask for ALL as if you ask for marriage you will probably get license only.
According to the 1930 census he was a laborer for the Railroad. 2. Do you know his job? Did he retire from the railroad? If you you would need to look and there retirement as thay are separate from social security.
3. Did June Edna live longer that William? If so what was her source of income?
4. How sure are you of when he died? Death may not show in online State Archives after 1950.
5. Do you know where June Edna is buried? Even if there is no headstone, he may also be burried there. Check with the caretakers office. Some are very good at checking if you can give them info such as area of cemetery (next to ... ; up on the hill by the old oak. that kind of stuff)
6. Do you know of other family names un accounted for? (especially someone who would have been in the age range of a previous family. Or his sibling. Or some) (My Dad use to talk about when he was a child, he use to visit a Grandma Henderson (not a family name). He thought she was just an old lady friend of his Grandparents. It turns out she was his Great Great Grandmother who had remarried a long the line.
Well that will give you more to chew on, Happy hunting, Ruth
